Pro Tip: If you want to clamp your leather without leaving an impression that the metal jaws would leave, then it is recommended you cement on a piece of undyed, chrome tanned, full-grain leather to the inside of the jaws so the soft leather will contact your leatherwork, instead of the hard steel. Chrome tanned leather is recommended since it will retain its shape and suppleness over time, and undyed leather is also recommended so that there will be no dye that may seep from the chrome tanned leather to the leatherwork you're crafting. A rubber cement is best used as this will have a greater adhesion to the metal and leather, while minimising the risk of contaminating your leatherwork after its dried.
