Carve wood with this heavy-duty socket woodworking gouge made by Michihamono of Japan. This tool is forged from White Paper Steel, a traditional type of metal used in high-end Japanese cutting tools, and can be sharpened to a razor-sharp edge. This tool's blade is connected in an ergonomic handle crafted out of durable, Japanese oak wood that sits comfortably in your hand. This tool has a metal hoop on the end of the handle to protect it from deforming or breaking when being struck by a mallet.
This tool has a shallow gouge that will help you take on the small-sized details of your project and is a great way for producing and hollowing out recesses, as well as cutting gouges in your wood. This superb shallow U gouge can also be used to make grooves that are wider than the standard U gouge. Use this tool along with other socket-type shallow gouges of different sizes to carve wood depending on your needs (each sold separately).
