With this Japanese 3mm shallow gouge from Michihamono, you can carve fine details into your wood projects. The handle is fashioned from quality Japanese cypress wood that has a simple, ergonomic design for comfort and control during use. Connected to the handle is a high-grade Blue Paper Steel (Aogami No.2) blade that is sharp and ready to use straight out of the packaging.

This shallow U gouge is ideal for smoothing off wood surfaces since it can carve thin pieces of wood. This tool has a 3mm wide cutting edge, perfect for carving details in wood.

Approximate Dimensions & Product Data:

  • Blade Material: Blue Paper Steel (Aogami No.2)
  • Blade Width: 3mm
  • Handle Material: Japanese Cypress Wood

  • Never use the blade of this tool as a lever to remove wood,
  • Cutting strokes should be only vertical (i.e., up or down), with minimal pressure applied,
