What if I told you that this tool gives you the power to regenerate its premium Japanese crafted wood carving blade after it has been grounded down?

That is right. The Michihamono Japanese Premium Wood Carving Tool comes with an extendible blade that you can extend after it has been ground down by multiple sharpenings, making it by far the best wood carving tool compared to others in the same category. This tool will be critical to your woodblock (Mogu Hanga), and other general wood carving works. Excellent value for money.

If you are looking to sharpen or adjust the blade, start by using pliers or something similar to remove the bolster and expose the blade and shank by pivoting the handle's top half using the hinge pin. You can now detach the blade from the handle by lifting it upwards then proceed to sharpen it using a whetstone. You can detach back the blade to its original position or a higher position if it has been ground down at increments of one centimetre each to ensure that the tool remains strong by minimising the anchor points in the wood being made. Please do not add adhesives or lubricants as the handle provides enough friction to hold the blade in place. To prevent the hook from being deformed, minimise the amount of excessive backward force that is being used on the blade. If your tool has been ruined beyond correction, contact the manufacturer who will issue a replacement. This tool should still post excellent performance even after the blade has been worn out up to two times its original size during purchase when used with proper care. Approximate dimensions for this wood carving tool include:

  • Handle length (not including bolster): 9cm
  • Handle width (widest point): 1.5cm
  • Handle width (narrowest point): 1.0cm
  • Bolster length: 1.8cm
