This outstanding Japanese Yokote Kogatana wood carving knife is excellent for whittling wood, or carving out broad sections of your wood carvings, and is among the best Japanese wood carving knives out there.

This Japanese wood carving knife is among the finest available, with a 9cm high quality blade, this knife will be with you for many years to come.

This quality Japanese knife comes with a large 9cm single bevel blade that is larger than most Yokote Kogatana knives. The blade is made from Forged Blue steel (AOGAMI NO.2) coated in the style of Damascus steel while the handle and sheath are made from quality birch. The sheath mates perfectly with the handle giving flawless continuity. This exceptionally high quality wood carving knife is among the finest out there.

Made in Japan by Michihamono, makers of high quality wood carving tools, this outstanding whittling knife will give you many years of service.

Approximate dimensions:

  • Blade Thickness: 3mm
  • Blade length: 90mm
  • Overall length (with sheath): 200mm
  • Overall length (sheath removed): 181mm
  • Height (at its highest point): 33mm

Always cut away from yourself, with the bevel of the knife facing away from the wood, to avoid injury.

To sharpen, draw the blade back and forth over a suitably lubricated whet stone, with the bevel side subjected to the most sharpening at the appropriate angle. Once the desired sharpness has been achieved, strop your blade with a leather strop and with jewellers rouge to ensure a lasting sharpness.
