Basic way to make Cloisonne (Shippo)
Polish the base (round copper) with steel wool to remove grease and dirt so that the paint can be applied smoothly. Avoid touching the base after polishing. Mix glaze paint with water until the transparency of water disappears to improve the development of colors after firing. Fill the hollowed part of the base with glaze paint and water mixture using a bamboo spatula to a thickness of about 1mm. Spread the paint evenly around the whole area of the base. Absorb excess water using a tissue. Apply CMC glue using a brush to prevent paint from falling off the surface. Add less paint on the convex side than the concave side to prevent cracking of the paint. Use a brush to spread the paint evenly. Use a tissue to absorb excess water and let it dry. Put in a baking pot and bake. Remove burrs of the paint around the edges. You can add metal fittings (not included in the kit) using metal adhesives (not included in the kit) to complete your work.
Please note, instructions are in Japanese, but are pictorial and are easy to understand.
