Directions for use:

Moulding
Morin silver clay begins to dry as soon as it is exposed to air outside its package. It is recommended to decide on your design before opening the package and ensure you sufficiently shape your Morin Silver Clay before it begins to dry. To bond pieces of wet clay together, use water or silver clay paste. Cracks and scratches on the surface can be removed by gently swabbing over the imperfections with a wet cotton swab until they no longer appear. This can be done with both wet and dry Morin Silver Clay.

Remoulding
Morin silver clay can be remoulded even after it has naturally dried or been dried at temperatures below 100℃ (using a blow dryer, etc.). To remould your silver clay, grind the dried silver clay into small pieces, add distilled water, wrap it in plastic wrap, then seal it in a zip lock bag with the air removed. Your dried silver clay will revert to wet silver clay in a few hours. If you feel your wet silver clay begin to dry out after using it for a while, add some distilled water and wrap it in plastic wrap. After about 30 minutes, your wet silver clay will absorb moisture uniformly and become easier to use again.

Drying
It is important to heat your Morin Silver Clay to ensure all moisture has evaporated before firing. Uneven or incomplete drying may result in uneven or partial sintering or cracking of your jewellery pieces.

Using a blow dryer is one method to dry with warm air, with a recommended duration of 40-60 minutes. Some elasticity will remain after drying. If using a heated surface (e.g., an electric hot plate), it is recommended to first dry your shaped Morin Silver Clay at 80℃ (180F) for about 15 minutes, followed by secondary drying at 180℃ (360F) for an additional 20 minutes. For rings thicker than 3mm in diameter or weighing more than 15g, perform secondary drying for at least 1 hour instead of 20 minutes.

Please note: If you heat your Morin Silver Clay on a hot surface at 180℃ (360F) straight away after moulding, without preheating at 80℃ (180F) for about 15 minutes, the clay will expand, causing deformation and cracking.

Morin Silver Clay can still be shaped with a file or other scraping tools once dried. However, it may be brittle, so care must be taken to prevent breakage.

Firing
Once your silver has been thoroughly dried and no moisture remains, it is ready for firing. The standard firing temperature is between 850℃ and 900℃ (1560F - 1650F) for 10 minutes. When co-firing with SV925 and SV950, fire at 600℃ (1110F) for 30 minutes. For rings and other items that require strength, fire at 850℃ to 900℃ (1560F - 1650F) for 10 minutes. Morin may melt if heated over 900℃.

Morin Silver Clay will shrink by about 10% to 20% after firing, so please consider this when making rings or other fitted jewellery.

High-temperature smoke and gas may be generated as the binder components burn away during firing. Although these by-products are non-toxic, ensure adequate ventilation when firing.

Sintering is recommended in Nitto Gakku's original silver mini pot, silver pot, mini pan, or other Nitto Gakku branded line of kilns.

Polishing
After firing, your newly sintered jewellery will have a deposit of white residue on the surface. This is normal and can be polished away with a stainless brush or polishing spatula. You can also use an electric router, magnetic polisher, sponge polishing material, waterproof paper, buff, or silver cloth to further improve the appearance of your jewellery. Various oxidising liquids are available to create a matte finish if desired.

Care of Morin Silver Clay
Each packet of Morin Silver Clay comes in a resealable package. Once you have opened and resealed your Morin Silver Clay, it can usually be stored for 2-3 months before showing signs of age or drying out. The surface of your Morin Silver Clay may turn black or black particles may appear over time, but this does not affect its quality.

For best storage results, wrap any remaining Morin Silver Clay in plastic cling film, and store it in its original packaging with the zip lock sealed. Ensure it is not exposed to outside air or direct sunlight.

When storing hardened Morin Silver Clay, wrap it in a plastic bag, dampen a wet paper towel (dust-free) or sponge with water, place it in its original packaging, and store it in a cool, dark place. Ensure your Morin Silver Clay does not directly contact the wet paper towels or sponges, as it may stick to them.

Health and Safety
Morin Silver Clay may cause itching or a rash. If you experience any abnormality on your skin or body, please stop using it and consult a doctor. Avoid contact with eyes or mouth. Keep out of reach of children. After use, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. Avoid inhaling any Morin Silver Clay dust that may arise from filing.
