This outstanding 58mm Japanese plane uses a disposable razor, instead of a permanent blade, to smooth you wood, while retaining the time tested traditional Japanese wood plane design. This innovative design allows you to easily replace the cutting edge of your plane with a disposable razor, rather than having to spend time and energy sharpening a heavy blade against a whetstone. Additional razor blades sold separately (spare blade model number: 291-58)

To use this Takagi 283-58 Japanese Woodworking Carpenter Razor Plane 58mm Replaceable Blades, simply adjust the blade to the appropriate depth as depicted on the instructions, and pull or push the plane across the wood you wish to smooth. To replace the blade, remove the blade holder from the plane, once removed disassemble by prying apart the two components. Remove the old blade and replace it with a fresh razor blade, before reassembling the blade holder, ensuring the two prongs align with the holes, then reinsert into the plane.
