You are looking at one of our high-quality, very coarse 240 grit, sharpening whetstones suitable for all types of blades. This sharpening stone is great for repairing woodcarving tools, kitchen knives, general carpentry tools, and even for home use cutting tools.

This fast cutting, Japanese sharpening stone offers a superb cutting speed, and is perfect for repairing chips or quickly sharpening very dull blades in preparation for finer grit whetstones. This whetstone is also unusually thick, giving you a longer life when compared to other, more thinner, whetstones.

Approximate Dimensions & Product Data:

  • Size: 205 x 75 x 50mm
  • Weight: 1700g
  • Grit Number: #240

To use this coarse grit Whetstone, first, wipe the surface and apply sufficient water to lubricate. Then hold the knife the way you are holding it when cutting, and place the edge of the knife on the stone in a 20 to 25 degree angle (about half the size of your thumb horizontally, or whatever the manufacturer recommended angle is for the bevel on your blade). Make sure to have a firm grip of the handle with your dominant hand, and the other hand putting pressure near the upward facing edge of the blade. After finding the correct angle, run the knife on the stone in a back and forth motion. Apply pressure only when pulling the knife. Please note, this is a very coarse whetstone, so should be used on the dullest of blades, or to repair chips in your blade.

Please note: Wear gloves when sharpening knives.
